Ruach - The Spirit or Wind God
The Hebrew word Ruach, which means spirit or wind, and is used in the Genesis 1:2 passage of God's spirit, is feminine in gender. Throughout the Old Testament, Hebrew terms that are feminine in gender are used to speak of the Spirit of God. In both the Old and New Testaments there are metaphors for God that use feminine images (see for instance Isaiah 66:13 and Luke 15:8-10). Modern Painting
