SAHAJA YOGA

Sahaja Yoga is a method of meditation that brings about the spontaneous awakening of a subtle inner energy called the Kundalini giving rise to a deep state of mental silence known as thoughtless awareness.

This awakening marks a breakthrough in human evolution, enabling us to go beyond the mind and experience a profound connection with our true self. Sahaja Yoga was founded by Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi in 1970 and is practiced today in more than 120 countries by people of all ages, backgrounds, and beliefs.

In Canada, it is offered freely by a collective of volunteers who have experienced its deep benefits and now share it with others, It's open to all, without cost or commitment.

HOW SAHAJA YOGA MEDITATION WORKS?

The key to Sahaja Yoga lies in the awakening of the Kundalini energy, a nurturing and subtle force that resides dormant at the base of the spine. When this energy rises, it gently passes through the energy centers (chakras), bringing them into balance and culminating in a connection at the crown of the head the gateway to thoughtless awareness.

This experience is:
   •    Spontaneous – It happens naturally during a simple guided meditation.
   •    Verifiable – You feel it physically as a cool breeze, often in the hands or above the head.
   •    Transformative – It gradually silences mental chatter and helps clear emotional blockages.

There’s nothing to believe, you simply feel and experience it within.

You can meditate anywhere and anytime.

In Shri Mataji's own words: "Global unity of mankind can be achieved through this awakening that can occur within each human being, so that transformation takes place within us. By this process, a person becomes moral, united, integrated and balanced. One actually gets the experience of the feeling of the all-pervading divine power as cool breeze. "Know thyself" is the main theme of all the scriptures - it becomes evident, and one reaches the absolute understanding of oneself.

Sahaja Yoga is a simple technique that is easily practiced by anyone, regardless of age, race, or financial status. Seeking a higher spiritual state – a reality full of satisfaction, joy, and peace – is a natural part of the human evolutionary process. Sahaja Yoga meditation plays a fundamental role in achieving the fruits of that spiritual journey. All human beings have the potential to achieve a more peaceful, sustainable, and easily balanced life.

This inner awakening is called by many names:

In these modern times, through Sahaja ("spontaneous") Yoga ("union with one's Self"), this experience has become effortless and available to everyone, for the first time in the history

About Shri Mataji

Founder of Sahaja Yoga Meditation

Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi discovered a unique method of meditation called "Sahaja Yoga" which allows the achievement of inner enlightenment and reveals the true potential of humanity. Shri Mataji showed that within each person there is a motherly spiritual energy called Kundalini, the awakening of which gives spontaneous connection with the all-pervading power of Divine love.

VND Canada is registered as a Charitable Organization under BC bylaws. As part of its vision and founding principles laid by the founder, Shri Mataji, HH Mrs. Nirmala Shrivastava, VND follows a non-profit model and provides free meditation classes and workshops online and in person.
